board & train
3-week on leash immersion
better manners. clearer communication. more enjoyable everyday life.
Companion Immersion is a three-week, home-based Board & Train experience designed to build reliable everyday skills, better manners, and clearer communication between you and your dog.
Throughout their stay, your dog becomes part of everyday life in my home—training through household routines, neighborhood walks, public outings, downtime, and the everyday experiences that help skills become more practical and reliable.
Rather than simply teaching your dog how to perform during a training session, we’ll focus on building skills they can carry into the life you actually want to enjoy together.
IS COMPANION RIGHT FOR YOUR DOG?
A STRONGER FOUNDATION FOR EVERYDAY LIFE.
Companion Immersion is a great fit for dogs who don’t necessarily need behavior-focused training, but would benefit from more structure, consistency, and dedicated time to develop reliable everyday skills.
THIS MAY BE THE RIGHT FIT IF:
✓ Walks feel more difficult than they should
✓ Your dog knows some skills, but isn’t consistent with them
✓ Excitement makes it difficult for your dog to focus
✓ Household manners could use some work
✓ Your dog struggles to settle or relax
✓ You’d like to comfortably include your dog in more of everyday life
✓ You want clearer communication and greater reliability on leash
Not sure whether Companion is the right fit? That’s exactly what your Foundations Consultation is for.

YOUR DOG’S 3-WEEK JOURNEY
PROGRAMS BUILT ONE DAY AT A TIME
week one
foundation
The first week is all about helping your dog settle in, decompress, and begin feeling comfortable in their new environment. I’ll spend time getting to know your dog’s personality, routines, motivations, communication style, and current skill level while building trust and a strong working rapport.
Training starts gently and is woven into everyday life through structured routines, play, appropriate exercise, enrichment, and plenty of downtime. We’ll begin establishing clear communication and introducing foundational skills while also working on things like crate training, settling in the home, leash foundations, and household manners.
This week gives me the opportunity to learn who your dog is before asking more of them—what motivates them, where they need support, how they respond to pressure or distractions, and what helps them feel successful.
Focus may include: decompression, relationship building, play & exercise, crate training, engagement, leash foundations, household routines, settling, foundational obedience, and structure.
week two
build & practice
Week Two is where we begin building on the foundation from the first week and asking for more consistency. Now that your dog is more comfortable, understands the routine, and has started developing a working relationship with me, we can begin increasing expectations in a thoughtful, manageable way.
We’ll continue strengthening core skills while introducing more distractions, duration, distance, and real-world practice. Training may expand into neighborhood walks, parks, public spaces, and other dog-friendly environments so your dog can begin learning how to use their skills outside of the home.
This is also when we start paying closer attention to how your dog responds around everyday distractions like people, other dogs, movement, new environments, and changes in routine. Appropriate play, exercise, enrichment, and downtime continue to be part of the process so your dog stays balanced and engaged throughout their stay.
Your midway lesson takes place during this phase, giving you the opportunity to see your dog’s progress, learn the communication and handling skills we’ve been building, and begin preparing for the transition home.
Focus may include: strengthening obedience, leash skills, impulse control, duration & distance, public manners, engagement around distractions, neutrality, real-world outings, and building greater consistency.
week three
real life reliability
Week Three is about bringing everything together and helping your dog use their new skills more naturally in everyday life. By this point, your dog understands the expectations and communication we’ve built, so we can focus on increasing reliability and practicing those skills across a wider variety of real-world situations.
Training continues at home and expands through neighborhood walks, parks, dog-friendly businesses, public spaces, and other appropriate outings. We’ll practice around everyday distractions such as people, children, other dogs, movement, sounds, and changing environments—always at a level that is appropriate for your individual dog.
We’ll also begin preparing your dog for the transition home. The goal isn’t for your dog to only respond well for me; it’s for the skills, routines, and communication we’ve built to transfer back into your everyday life together.
Your dog’s final days are focused on reinforcing their strongest skills, identifying anything that still needs support, and creating a clear plan for continued success once they’re home.
Focus may include: real-world reliability, public manners, neutrality, leash skills around distractions, household routines, settling in different environments, confidence, consistency, and preparing for the transition home.

THE TRANSITION MATTERS
BECAUSE THEIR TRAINING HAS TO WORK WITH YOU, TOO.
Your dog’s immersion stay is only part of the journey. The progress they make while living and training with me needs to translate back into your home, your routines, and your relationship together.
That’s why every Companion Immersion includes hands-on owner education and continued support. Your midway lesson, two private follow-up lessons, and three group classes give you opportunities to learn the communication, handling, routines, and expectations your dog has been practicing throughout their stay.
When your dog comes home, you won’t be left trying to figure everything out on your own. We’ll continue working together so you and your dog can build consistency, confidence, and reliability in the life you actually share.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
A dog with stronger everyday skills, clearer communication, and greater reliability — and an owner with the knowledge and confidence to continue building on that progress at home.
Success isn’t about creating a “perfect” dog or checking every skill off a list. It’s about building a dog who understands what’s expected of them, a family who knows how to communicate those expectations, and a relationship that feels easier and more enjoyable in everyday life.
