6-week on leash immersion

UNDERSTAND THE BEHAVIOR. REBUILD COMMUNICATION. MOVE FORWARD TOGETHER.

BEHAVIOR & RELATIONSHIP IMMERSION

Behavior & Relationship Immersion is a six-week, home-based Board & Train experience designed for dogs who need more than traditional obedience training. This program gives us the time and space to better understand the behavior in front of us, address the patterns contributing to everyday challenges, and build clearer communication between your dog and the people they share their life with.

Throughout their stay, your dog becomes part of everyday life in my home, allowing me to observe and work with their behavior beyond scheduled training sessions. Household routines, walks, downtime, structured training, carefully selected outings, and everyday interactions all give us opportunities to understand what your dog is communicating, what they need, and where they may be struggling.

Training is individualized around your dog’s history, temperament, triggers, confidence, and specific behavioral needs. We’ll work on creating structure, communication, coping skills, confidence, and more appropriate responses, while gradually introducing challenges at a pace your dog can successfully navigate.

The goal isn’t to suppress behavior or create a dog who simply looks obedient. It’s to understand the dog in front of us, change the patterns we can change, and give both you and your dog better tools for moving forward together.

IS BEHAVIOR & RELATIONSHIP IMMERSION RIGHT FOR YOUR DOG?

MORE SUPPORT FOR THE DOG WHO NEEDS A DIFFERENT APPROACH.

Behavior & Relationship Immersion is designed for dogs whose challenges go beyond basic manners or obedience and who would benefit from more time, individualized training, and a deeper understanding of the behavior in front of us.

Over six weeks, we’ll work to understand your dog’s patterns, triggers, communication, confidence, and individual needs while building the skills that can help them navigate everyday life more successfully.

Rather than rushing through a predetermined training plan, this program gives us the time to slow things down, build trust, create clearer communication, and thoughtfully work through challenges at your dog’s individual pace.

THIS MAY BE THE RIGHT FIT IF YOUR DOG:

✓ Struggles with reactivity toward dogs, people, or the environment
✓ Experiences fear or insecurity in everyday situations
✓ Has difficulty settling or regulating around distractions
✓ Displays resource guarding or possessive behaviors
✓ Struggles with handling, boundaries, or household routines
✓ Has developed unwanted behavioral patterns that have been difficult to change
✓ Needs greater confidence in new environments or situations
✓ Has difficulty recovering after becoming overwhelmed or overstimulated
✓ Would benefit from more individualized support than a traditional training program provides
✓ Needs stronger communication and structure within their relationship at home

Because behavior is complex, every dog is evaluated individually. Your Foundations Consultation helps us determine whether an immersion environment is appropriate for your dog and which training path will best support their needs. 🐾

WHAT WE CAN WORK ON

TRAINING BUILT AROUND THE DOG IN FRONT OF US.

There isn’t one predetermined checklist every Behavior & Relationship dog must complete. Behavioral challenges are rarely one-size-fits-all, so your dog’s training will be individualized around their history, temperament, triggers, environment, communication, and the specific challenges affecting your life together.

Throughout their stay, we’ll work to better understand the patterns behind your dog’s behavior while building clearer communication, confidence, coping skills, structure, and more appropriate responses. Progression will be thoughtful and based on what your individual dog is ready for.

Depending on your dog, training may include”

✓ Engagement & handler focus

YOUR DOG’S 6-WEEK JOURNEY

PROGRAMS BUILT ONE DAY AT A TIME

week one

decompress & understand

The first week is about giving your dog time to settle in, decompress, and feel comfortable in their new environment while allowing me to begin understanding the individual dog in front of me.

Through everyday routines, structured downtime, play, enrichment, walks, and low-pressure interactions, I’ll observe your dog’s communication, triggers, coping strategies, confidence, motivations, boundaries, and behavioral patterns. We’ll also begin building trust and rapport without rushing your dog into situations they aren’t ready to navigate.

As your dog settles in, we’ll introduce clear communication, predictable routines, structure, foundational skills, and appropriate outlets while establishing a baseline for the behaviors we’ll be working through over the coming weeks.

Before we can meaningfully change behavior, we need to understand what your dog is communicating and why those patterns may be happening.

We don’t begin by changing the dog. We begin by understanding them. 🐾

week two

build trust & communication

Week Two is where we begin building on the foundation from the first week and asking for more consistency. Now that your dog is more comfortable, understands the routine, and has started developing a working relationship with me, we can begin increasing expectations in a thoughtful, manageable way.

We’ll continue strengthening core skills while introducing more distractions, duration, distance, and real-world practice. Training may expand into neighborhood walks, parks, public spaces, and other dog-friendly environments so your dog can begin learning how to use their skills outside of the home.

This is also when we start paying closer attention to how your dog responds around everyday distractions like people, other dogs, movement, new environments, and changes in routine. Appropriate play, exercise, enrichment, and downtime continue to be part of the process so your dog stays balanced and engaged throughout their stay.

Your midway lesson takes place during this phase, giving you the opportunity to see your dog’s progress, learn the communication and handling skills we’ve been building, and begin preparing for the transition home.

Focus may include: strengthening obedience, leash skills, impulse control, duration & distance, public manners, engagement around distractions, neutrality, real-world outings, and building greater consistency.

week three

identify & reshape patterns

By Week Three, we have a clearer understanding of your dog’s behavior, communication, and individual needs. Now we can begin more intentionally working through the patterns and situations that have been challenging for them.

We’ll create carefully planned opportunities to practice around your dog’s triggers while continuing to strengthen engagement, communication, confidence, impulse control, and appropriate responses. The goal isn’t to simply prevent unwanted behavior—it’s to help your dog learn what to do instead and give them the skills to make better choices.

Challenges will be introduced at a level your dog can successfully navigate, allowing us to gradually build their ability to think, respond, and recover even when something feels exciting, frustrating, uncertain, or overwhelming.

As new responses become more familiar, we’ll continue reinforcing them through repetition and everyday experiences so healthier patterns can begin replacing the old ones.

We’re not just stopping behavior. We’re teaching a better way forward. 🐾

week four

practice through challenges

By Week Four, your dog has begun developing new skills and healthier responses. Now we’ll focus on helping those changes hold up as we introduce more realistic situations, environments, and everyday challenges.

We’ll gradually increase distractions and exposure to your dog’s individual triggers while continuing to reinforce engagement, confidence, emotional regulation, impulse control, and responsiveness to their handler. Training may expand into neighborhood walks, public spaces, new environments, or other carefully selected situations based on your dog’s needs and progress.

Just as importantly, we’ll work on your dog’s ability to recover after difficult moments rather than expecting perfection. Learning how to settle, reconnect, and move forward is an important part of creating lasting behavioral change.

The goal this week is to help your dog begin carrying their new skills beyond controlled training and into the real world they’ll eventually navigate with you.

week five

strengthen & generalize

By Week Five, your dog has had time to practice new skills and responses in a variety of situations. Now we’ll focus on making those changes more consistent across different environments, distractions, people, and everyday experiences.

We’ll continue thoughtfully increasing challenges while helping your dog learn that the same communication and expectations apply even when the situation changes. Depending on your dog’s individual needs, we may practice around specific triggers, busier environments, unfamiliar situations, household scenarios, or other real-life challenges they’re likely to encounter at home.

We’ll also continue strengthening your dog’s ability to make better choices, recover from difficult moments, reconnect with their handler, and settle after heightened situations rather than relying on constant management or guidance.

With the transition home approaching, this week helps us identify where your dog is becoming more confident and where they may still need additional support so we can begin preparing you to continue the work together.

week six

transition & move forward

The final week is about bringing everything together and preparing your dog—and you—for the transition home. We’ll continue strengthening the skills, communication, and healthier patterns we’ve built while focusing on the situations most relevant to your everyday life together.

We’ll revisit important challenges, reinforce your dog’s ability to respond, recover, reconnect, and make better choices, and identify the areas where continued management, practice, or support will be important after they return home.

Just as importantly, the focus begins shifting from the relationship your dog has built with me back to the relationship that matters most—the one they have with you. We’ll prepare you to understand their communication, maintain the structure and expectations they’ve learned, recognize when they’re struggling, and confidently guide them through difficult moments.

Behavior change doesn’t end when an immersion stay does. Week Six is about making sure you leave with a clearer understanding of your dog and the tools to keep moving forward together.

THE TRANSITION MATTERS

BECAUSE BEHAVIOR CHANGE HAS TO CONTINUE AT HOME.

Your dog’s six-week immersion is an important part of their journey, but meaningful behavioral change doesn’t end when they walk back through your front door. The progress they make while living and training with me needs to translate into your home, your routines, and your relationship together.

That’s why Behavior & Relationship Immersion places such a strong emphasis on owner education and continued support. You’ll learn how your dog communicates, what may contribute to their behavior, how to recognize when they’re beginning to struggle, and how to use the same structure, expectations, and communication we’ve established throughout their stay.

When your dog comes home, we’ll continue working together to help you maintain new patterns, navigate challenging situations, build confidence, and adjust the plan as your dog continues to progress.

The goal isn’t to hand you back a “fixed” dog. It’s to send you home with a better understanding of your dog, clearer communication between you, and practical tools to continue building the relationship and progress you’ve started.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

BETTER COMMUNICATION. HEALTHIER PATTERNS. A STRONGER RELATIONSHIP.

Success in Behavior & Relationship Immersion isn’t about creating a dog who never struggles again. It’s about helping your dog develop better ways to respond, recover, communicate, and navigate the situations that were once difficult for them.

For one dog, success may look like calmly passing another dog on a walk. For another, it may mean recovering more quickly after becoming overwhelmed, settling more easily at home, feeling safer in new environments, or learning to look to their person for guidance instead of reacting automatically.

The goal is meaningful, sustainable progress—paired with an owner who better understands their dog and has the tools to continue supporting that progress long after the immersion ends.
